Justine Durrell is a lover of wisdom and the spaces where people come together to share their truth. For over 15 years she was a student of, and informed by, the teachings of renowned cultural anthropologist, teacher, and author, Angeles Arrien. Currently, Justine teaches Holy Smoke Workshops, researches and writes a blog for HolySmokeBlue.com, composes poetry, and spends time with family and friends.

Justine practiced personal injury law for over 25 years. She furthered the practice of plaintiff’s law in the areas of sexual abuse, toxic exposures, and biotechnology. She is a former partner of Ramsey & Durrell, LLP, a firm that distinguished itself for representing hundreds of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Justine and partner Maja Kristin (nee Ramsey) were among the first lawyers in the country to handle cases involving priest sexual abuse, recovering millions of dollars on behalf of the survivors. Many representative cases were covered by major media.

Justine also engaged in extensive research and writing in advanced areas where law, science, and ethics converge and published articles on cloning and egg donation. She continues to be involved with groups such as Center for Genetics and Society and Alliance for Humane Biotechnology and conduct individual research and writing.

As an extension of her work with Angeles Arrien, she co-facilitated A Practice in Intentional Integrity for four years, and co-founded RockRose Institute, with three other women attorneys. RockRose presented The World Forum on Facing Violence in 2007 for 500 participants.
